Smokey look - Still on hiatus

Hey girls! I'm still technically on hiatus... things still haven't worked out or gotten better but I did remember that I have never really done a dark look for this blog! I am actually on my way out clubbing and I realized that I had a smokey eye on! So these are just a few pictures that I've taken to prove to everyone that I CAN DO A DARK LOOK! WOOOO! :)

Happy (?) Chinese New Year!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to wish everyone a belated HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

I'm really sorry I haven't been blogging much but I've hit some personal problems which has just really torn me up. I don't think I've ever felt this kind of a low before and I've kinda been just too upset/angry too blog about anything. I hope everything works out very soon and I can get back to blogging. Until then, this blog will be on a little mini hiatus while I figure some shit out...

I hope that everyone is well and taking care of themselves!

xoxo Phoebe

Outfits (1 inspired by xppinkxx) + Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Hi lovelies! I know I haven't been on much but I haven't really been inspired much lately... but today I was on sasa.com with my mom and we were looking to buy some stuff so I can't wait!

As it says on the title I did buy myself Too Faced Shadow Insurace... I can't believe its $30 for something so teeny! I was expecting the tube to be way bigger for some reason hahah I haven't tried it out so I will give a proper review when I have :)

I'm also really excited for my sister to be going overseas in a few weeks, and she will be transiting over in Singapore before she goes to Indonesia for a wedding. If you all don't know, the MAC counter in Singapore has been known to be one of the cheapest places you can buy in the world so I will be giving her a list of things to buy me from there!

Anywhooooo, these are the 2 outfits I made today.... the first one is just something really simple, I'm in love with how beautiful the dress is! The second one, is inspired by Pam a.k.a xppinkxx! Ever since I saw her with those Forever 21 latex leggins, I have always been reminded of her everytime I see a pair! And I remember from one of her posts that she liked the bow belt from Forever 21 so I found a headband with a similar bow and just threw it in cause I thought it'd look cute :P

Hope you're all well!

Okay guys... have any of you signed up for cozycot.com? It asks for your NRIC/Passport number when you want to sign up and I'm not sure whether it's safe to do so or why they even need it in the first place.... Can anyone help me?

Cherryculture haul = dissapointment :(

My Cherryculture haul came... and I'm kinda dissapointed... I mean, the eyeshadows from NYX are great as per usual, but the false eyelashes and the round lipstick REALLLLLY dissapointed me. I really should stick with the Sassi ones.... These are the list of things that I bought in case you didn't read the other post where I listed my christmas present from my bf...
  • NYX Eyeshadow - Lustre
  • NYX Eyeshadow - Opal
  • NYX Eyeshadow - Cork
  • NYX Eyeshadow - Grey
  • NYX Pearl Mania - Silver
  • NYX False Eyelashes - #125
  • NYX False Eyelashes - #128
  • NYX Round Lipstick - Circe

I should elaborate and say that the false eyelashes #125 had glitter on it and it looked sooo fake and stupid. I hate it. I would never wear it unless it was like for halloween or something! The #128 is VERY long... that one I don't mind so much, it's just very dramatic. I definitely learnt my lesson about just getting human hair ones.

I bought the NYX round lipstick in "Circe" because I was looking for a really good nude coloured lipstick to wear with a smokey eye or something. I'm not exactly very fond of the formulation either, it was a bit thin and it streaked on my lips. Maybe it's cause I have pretty dark pigmented lips but it didn't look very nice on me at all.

The eyeshadows, I was very satisfied with. Same with the pearl mania, I loved it! My favourite colour there was cork and lustre.

Here are some swatches.... (L-R: Circe, Opal, Grey, Lustre, Cork, Silver)

MAC Moisturelush Cream + MAC Microfine Refinisher + Coastal Scents brushes Review (PICTURE HEAVY!)

IT HAS ARRIVED!!! :D Not all my haul but 2 out of the 3 packages that I am expecting. The last package is from cherryculture and they took like forever last time, so I'm not expecting it for another week or so lol

What's pictured above:
  • MAC Moisturelush Cream
  • MAC Microfine Refinisher
  • CS pink blending fluff brush
  • CS white angled liner brush
  • CS tapered crease eye brush
  • CS chisel fluff medium shadow brush
  • CS sample baggy of the Squeeze Me eyeshadow
We'll start with MAC shall we? :)

MAC Moisturelush Cream: I'm still very undecided about this moisturizer. I really want it to work for my skin, it smells nice but it takes forever to absorb into my skin, I'm not sure whether that means that my skin isn't dry enough for the moisturizer or something else? Although when it does absorb, my skin is like a baby's bottom. I don't really have the patience to let my moisturizer sink in for like 5-10 minutes before I'm ready to put on my primer. I did just receive this today so I will probably do a more in depth review when I've used it for awhile.

MAC Microfine Refinisher: I LOVE THIS SHIT! I can see the difference in the texture of my skin from just using it once. It makes your skin so smooth and supposedly, it's meant to help with blackheads, which is a gross problem that I have ALL THE TIME. For the moment I love this stuff. I'm going to take a photo of my skin now, and I'll take another photo of my skin in about 2 weeks to see whether it has made a difference or not!

Top: MAC Microfine Refinisher
Bottom: MAC Moisturelush Cream

(L-R: Squeeze Me sample, white angled liner brush, pink blending brush, tapered crease brush, medium shadow brush)

Squeeze Me eyeshadow: I think it's such a pretty colour! You can barely see from the swatches that I did on my arm below, but when put on the eye, it has the most gorgeous gold colour I've seen so far. It's very finely milled and glides on effortlessly onto my eye and has a pretty good staying power.

Pink blending brush ($1.99) - This brush is HUGEEEE! It's like the size of my whole lid area! I though it would be smaller but I guess not... I should've checked out the measurements on the site, because they do have them, but I get a headache whenever I try to figure out the size of things in like mm and inches or whatever, I'm really bad at it lol Ohhh! IT HAS A FUNKY SMELL! I've washed it twice now I think, and it's still there. Not as strong as before, but still pretty funky :S

Tapered Crease Brush ($2.49) - This brush is so-so. It does it's job I guess, but it's a bit flimsy... I don't know... I don't have anything else to say except it's just an OKAY brush. Nothing WOW about it.

White Angled Liner Brush ($2.19) - I love this little thing :) It does make putting on gel liner easier for me. Maybe it's because I've been wanting it for ages but it's a really good quality brush considering the price of it. The other brushes, you kinda can tell they're cheaper quality but not with this little baby!

Chisel Fluff Medium Shadow Brush ($2.75) - I don't know if you can tell from the photos but this brush is effing tiny! AND IT WAS THE MOST EXPENSIVE ONE OUT OF THE BUNCH! I was expecting a longer handle and a wider and just generally bigger brush area, but again, I think that would be an error in my part for not checking out the measurements of all the brushes before I whipped out my bf's credit card and started spending. It would be really great for travelling though!

In conclusion, I have to say that I am a wee bit dissapointed in the brushes. I think I still may have to purchase the MAC brushes but am pretty happy with the MAC packages! Now let's see that cherryculture will bring me in the post soon! :)

January 6, 2009

Oh my gosh, guys... a friend told me of this video last night and I youtube-d it today and omg.... I could not stop laughing! My bf didn't think it was that funny... but I guess he was half asleep :P I DON'T CARE! It's hilarious to me :P I love animals!

P.S: My CS brushes came and I'll do a full review on it a bit later... one has a really funky smell! lol

I am on a roll with the looks.... Easy Forest Green Pigment eye look

WOW! I am totally on the roll with the easy eye looks... Again, I was messing about with make up tonight and when I was finishing (yes... basically the same story as before) I put on some Forest Green MAC pigment with a wet eyeshadow brush and voila :)

Again, it didn't take long to do and I think it's a really good look for a night out on the town!

Products I used:
  • MAC Pigment - Forest Green - Use a wet brush and put it on your entire lid, make sure you really pack on the colour. Line your lower lash line with this as well.
  • MAC Pigment - Silver Fog - Line tear ducts.
  • MAC Pigment - Vanilla - Highligh colour up to the brows.
  • MAC Eyeshadow - Satin Taupe - Crease colour. I didn't use much of it.
  • MAC Eyeshadow - Carbon - Smoke out the outer third of your eyelid with carbon. Don't use too much.
  • Rimmel Liquid Eyeliner - Black
  • NYX False Eyelashes - #119
  • Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof eyeliner - Black - #10
  • Cover Girl Lash Blast - Black - Coat bottom lashes generously.
I really should start doing looks on both eyes instead of just one so I get the full effect, but I usualy get a look I'm happy with at the last minute, just when I'm packing up and stuff, which is why I have no foundation or lip balm or lipgloss or ANYTHING else on my face lol

Adios amigos! Hope you like it :)

Easiest eye make up I've ever done...

Okay, so I was playing around with make up just now and I was just about to give up because I wasn't getting any luck on doing a look that I'd like when I just sploshed on one colour all over my eye and it turned out so pretty! This is why I only have photos of just my one eye by the way... and also I have no foundation on in the photos, you can see every pore, spot, pimple, whatever... GROSS! So I'm sorry, but I actually liked this look :P

Ohhh! And also, my hand is always on the side of my face because it's holding back a piece of hair :P I don't always pose like that haha How silly!

I seriously used just one colour and it is:
Napoleon Perdis Loose Dust - #41 - My brush was wet from cleaning it with a baby wipe when I decided to just see what this would look like all over my lid. I've never used this for a lid colour and was really surprised to see it look so beautiful when used with a wet brush! I put a bit too much on so I blended the colour up, but the concentration of colour was still on my lid. This was when I noticed it could actually be my one pot wonder!

After blending until I was happy, I just lined my eye with liquid liner and winged out the end a bit. I used Rimmel liquid eyeliner

Glued on some Sassi falsies I actually really like their adhesive :) $4.00! Mascara on bottom lashes.

Lined my eye with white Rimmel eyeliner.

Finally, I just used the NYX white pearl mania near the tear ducts and on my bottom lash line and continued the line with more Napoleon Perdis loose dust up until it meets the liquid eyeliner.

VOILA! You're done!

Products I used:
  • Napoleon Perdis Loose Dust - #14
  • Sassi false eyelashes - #600
  • NYX Pearl Mania - White
  • Rimmel liquid liner - Black
FOUR products, and it took me seriously 5 minutes to do if I didn't fumble around to see if I wanted to continue with the eye look or not! TOO EASY! :)

Happy new year! + Free lipstick + Outfits

I may be late with wishing everyone happy new year, but it's better late than never right? :) I hope everyone had a really awesome new year and spent it with loved ones :)

Anywhoooo.... I usually buy Marie Claire every month and this month I got a free L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick in Cashmere... I usually don't even take a second look at any free gifts that come from magazines because most of them are crap but I thought, hey, L'Oreal's an alright brand, I'll take a look at the colour and it's surprisingly GORGEOUS!

I will leave you with an eye look I was rocking today and 2 outfits since I haven't done them in AGESSSS! Please ignore the hot mess of the eyebrow... :P
