Me and my bitches.

Just some photos of me and my friends :) I love them to bits and I can't not dedicate one whole entry to them! I will do a special entry on my lovely boyfriend and my family at a later date :) I'm going to make sure I find ALL the photos that I want to put up of them :)

Review: Proactiv Solution

Proactiv is a Benzoyl Peroxide based treatment for the treatment of mild to moderate forms of acne. You buy it through those really annoying informercials on TV or online. The package was AU$29.95 every month but I know for US customers it is US$19.95. I think they've jacked up the prices recently too cause now I see it for AU$30 something on the informecials!

What's in it: I myself bought the basic package so I got a 2 month supply of the Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner, Repairing Lotion and I got 2 gifts with it, the Green Tea Moisturiser and the Refining Mask (which was my FAVOURITE part!)

I was using Proactiv for about 6 months about 2 years ago and then again at the start of this year for a few months. From my own experience Proactiv does work for me, during the time that I was using Proactiv, I seriously had NO PIMPLES WHATSOEVER. I had to feel sorry for my sister though, who tried Proactiv for one day and had a serious allergic reaction to it, which left her with little red bumps all over her face for a few days. This just shows how the treatment works differently for everyone and everyone will get different results. There are some possibe side effects like:
  • Dryness and peeling of the skin
  • Sensitivity to sunlight
  • Allergic reactions (as I mentioned before) such as redness and itching, hives, burning and swelling
  • Induce collar-specific discoloration of clothes
How to use it:
  • Renewing Cleanser - Dampen your face a little bit and then work the product between your hands and gently massage them all over the face, avoiding the eye area. Do NOT use roughly, you should be scrubbing gently for 30 seconds to a minute, whatever floats your boat :P Wash off with warm water and dry your face.
  • Revitalizing Toner: Put a little bit of the toner onto a tissue, cotton wool or cotton pad and swipe it all over your face quickly. Wait for it to dry.
  • Reparing Lotion: You shouldn't use too much of the Reparining Lotion as I found it to be very drying on my skin, so I used JUST enough to cover my face.
  • MOISTURISE, MOISTURISE, MOISTURISE! Especially if you have dry skin! The repairing lotion will peel the crap out of your skin after awhile, I promise you that!
  • Repeat every morning and night.
Pros:
  • It works! Your skin just glows after using it.
  • Although I know those steps sound a lot, it actually doesn't take a long time to do, and once you get into a routine, you kinda feel bad for not using it.
  • The Refining Mask was heaven to me! I even used it for when I can feel a pimple popping up, I'd dab a little bit of the mask over the area of the pimple at night and sleep overnight with it. I found that it made the pimple come up and heal faster.
  • Convenience of it being just sent to your door every 2 months.
  • 60 day money back guarantee, if you don't like it, send it back! :)
Cons:
  • You may find yourself to be in the group of people that have an allergic reaction to it. Trust me, it is NOT pretty, I saw my own sister go through it, she refused to leave the house for the week because her face was just all covered in red bumps.
  • I did find there to be a period of it having to get worse before it gets better. Just for the first 2 weeks, my skin went a little haywire, but after that, it was FLAWLESS.
  • I think the price is a bit too expensive for me since they've increased the price.
  • I found the customer service is not the best with Proactiv, I changed addresses, and I had to call 3 times just to get them to send to the right place.
  • Drying for your skin. (This can be counteracted by moisturiser though!)
  • Some people may not like the smell of Proactiv, it's like they tried to cover the chemical/peroxide smell with flowers or some herbal thing, and it just doesn't mix very well.
  • Some people argue that your skin can get addicted to Proactiv. And once you go off, your skin gets BAD! I personally haven't experienced this, yes my flawless skin didn't stay but i got pimples as often as I did before I started using Proactiv, actually, even less.
Rating out of 5: I'll rate Proactiv a 4 out of 5. I did find the second time that I used it, it didn't get me to the state that I was before, but maybe that's just cause I didn't use it for long enough :) Although it did work for me, I can't stress enough about how different Proactiv will react to everyone's skin, I've read stuff about Proactiv where people completely despised it and stuff where people just love it, so if you're curious, just try it out! There's no harm in trying :) And if it doesn't work, then you can always return it at the end of 60 days! :D

Review: Philosophy - The Present

Alright... here goes nothing! My first review... is of the Philosophy - The Present.

It is "a clear makeup skin perfector for day and night", otherwise a primer for the whole face. It contains a high molecular weight silicone that binds with the skin to help create a smooth surface. I've been using this since I was 16 on and off. When I didn't have this, I'd try other primers but I find myself coming back to this over and over again.

I use it primarily as a primer, just before I
put on my foundation, but sometimes I just use it by itself because it fills up all the lines on my face and it just makes it seriously feel like a baby's bottom! My boyfriend even put it on once and couldn't stop touching his face afterwards!

It's like a white sorta thick liquid, but it's not sticky. It's not thick that it makes you feel like you have a mask on, but it is the sort of consistency where you can feel it working and filling in those lines and pores.

How to use it:
  • Moisturize - or if you have oily skin, you can skip the moisturiser and JUST use this.
  • Squeeze out a small dollop into your hand and make sure you get it EVERYWHERE on your face.
  • Wait 2 minutes for it to set.
  • Then you can continue on with your make up routine.
Pros:
  • Makes your skin feel oh so silky smooth, like you've been airbrushed.
  • Easy to apply - very straight forward.
  • You can actually FEEL and SEE it work.
  • It does have a scent to it that I actually like - it's sort of really natural herbal sort of smell. It has a calming affect on me, I love it.
  • Provides you with a second layer of skin which seal in your moisturizer and such. Especially good at night.
  • Provides natural anti-bacterial benefit.
  • Lasts me a long time for the one tube personally, and I use it everyday. A little bit goes a long way!
Cons:
  • It is a bit pricey - or 2oz it is AU$55. I did find it for US$25 at the Sephora website for all you girlies in US :)
  • I'm an impatient sort of person so I hate waiting that 2 minutes for it to set before I put on the foundation.
  • Some people may not like scent to this.
Rating out of 5: I personally give this a solid 5 out of 5, because no matter what other primers I seem to try, I ALWAYS, ALWAYS come back to this one.

Ingredients: Water (Agua), Cyclomethicone, Behenyl Alcohol, Dimethiconol, Cetyl Dimethicone, Lysozyme, Sodium Citrate, Peg-12 Dimethicone, Peg/Ppg-18/18 Dimethicone, Lavendula Augustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Introducing myself...

Hello everybody!

I officially started my blog... I'm not even sure what this is for... mostly for make up and beauty shizz :) I've always been interested in make up, I've been doing make up for my friends since forever, and I even want to go to a beauty school once I finish my degree in Commerce. I've always wanted to open up my own make up store here in Perth, more high-end make up, it'll be like heaven to go to work and be surrounded by make up! :D

I'm a girly girl, I love my make up, I swear like a sailor (I'm trying to quit, promise...) but don't let that fool you, I am nice, I promise! I'm also into more natural make up, something that will bring out your best features and hide those which aren't so great. Yes, it is great to experiment and have fun with looks, but for a daily look, I'm more about refining about what I know looks best for me and doesn't take long to do. I do have one signature look that I always rock at night, my smokey eyed look. Will have to show you guys some photos when I have decent ones! :)

So... expect some reviews, some photos, some dos and donts, but please just know that any reviews I do are purely from my OWN experience, don't get offended if you don't agree with what I say!

Lastly, if there are any requests for reviews, tutorials, etc... just comment me or msg :) Please keep in mind though, that I'm in Australia, so some products may not be as readily available to me :)

Okay... I lied, this is lastly... lol I must have a shout-out to those blogs to have inspired me to start my own one:

  • Michelle a.k.a RiceBunny on www.xanga.com/ricebunny
  • Aubrey on http://fafinettex3.blogspot.com/
  • And a whole bunch of videos on youtube! Gotta love that shit :P
